Mom's Homemade Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Cup Butter or Margarine
  • 1/4 Cup Flour
  • 2 Cups Milk
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 Cups Cheddar Cheese (plus more for topping)
  • 2 1/2 Cups Dry Macaroni

Directions

  • 1)

    Heat butter and flour in a medium saucepan until browned. Add milk and salt and cook until thickened, stirring constantly so milk doesn’t burn.

  • 2)

    Take off heat and add 1 1/2 cups cheese. Stir til melted.

  • 3)

    Cook macaroni. Drain.

  • 4)

    Layer cheese sauce and macaroni in a 9×13 pan. Top with some grated cheese.

  • 5)

    Bake in preheated 350°F oven for 25 minutes.
