Buttermilk Syrup

Ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Butter
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 2 Tbsp Light Corn Syrup
  • 2 tsp Vanilla

Directions

  • 1)

    Combine all ingredients except vanilla and bring to a boil.

  • 2)

    Gently boil for 7 minutes.

  • 3)

    Remove from heat and add vanilla.

Nana Nicolaysen’s note: this became a Nicolaysen tradition after I was introduced to it by the Stevenson family when I traveled to Utah the day after Hunter was born. I knew everyone would love it and it reminded me of the German pancakes Nana would make when I was a little girl.
