The Original Sunshine Cake

Ingredients
- 1 lb (2 Cups) Sugar
- 1/2 lb Butter and Lard, combined
- 8 Eggs
- 2 1/2 lbs (8 Cups) Cake Flour
- 1/4 oz Baking Soda
- 1/2 oz Cream of Tartar
- 1/2 Pint (1 Cup) Milk
- 2 tsp Vanilla
- Little Salt
Directions
- 1)
Combine sugar, butter, flavorings and eggs and beat well until it is light and fluffy.
- 2)
Add baking powder and milk and beat again.
- 3)
Gradually add flour.
- 4)
Bake in greased and floured tube or bundt pan 325°F 1 to 1 1/4 hours until golden and cake tester comes out clean.

This is an original recipe of Amy’s great great grandfather, Julius Denzer, who was a baker by profession and was co-owner (along with a partner with the last name of Buehlmeyer) of the Sunlight and Sanitary Bakery at 3365 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY.
