Recipe from “Strong, Sweet and Bitter” by Cara Devine who writes, “The name comes from a competition run by a Prohibitionist to coin a word to describe those flaunting the law and continuing to drink… I don’t think it achieved the effect they wanted it to! The drink, though, is not American but French, albeit from Harry’s New York Bar in Paris.”

Scofflaw

  • Total time: 5 Minutes
  • Servings: 1 Drink

Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 oz Rye Whiskey
  • 3/4 oz Dry Vermouth
  • 1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1/3 oz Grenadine
  • 2 Dashes Orange Bitters
  • Lemon Zest Twist, for garnish

Directions

  • 1)

    Add all the ingredients (except the garnish) to a shaker tin filled with ice and shake.

  • 2)

    Double-strain into a chilled coupe.

  • 3)

    Fold your lemon twist over the top to expel the oils, then use as a garnish.
