Rob’s Italian Hot Chocolate

This is my own recipe for Italian hot chocolate. I took elements from several other recipes and tweaked them until they produced the best cup of Italian hot chocolate for my tastes, with just the right amount of thickness and sweetness.

Rob's Italian Hot Chocolate

  • Total time: 15 Minutes
  • Servings: 1 Serving

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup (250ml) Milk
  • 1 Tbsp Cocoa (dutch processed is best, but any is ok)
  • 4 tsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp Cornstarch

Directions

  • 1)

Sift all the dry ingredients together in a saucepan (do not add it to the heat yet).

  • 2)

Slowly pour in a little milk, stirring with a whisk to prevent lumps from forming.

  • 3)

Continue adding the remaining milk and stir until it’s all incorporated and there are no lumps.

  • 4)

Put the saucepan on medium heat and stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.

  • 5)

Stir for an additional minute and then remove from the heat.

  • 6)

Pour the hot chocolate into a cup and enjoy it as is or with some whipped cream on top.
