Mom's Classic Sugar Cookies

  • Total time: 30 Minutes
  • Servings: 5-6 Dozen

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 2 Cups Butter, softened
  • 2 Tbsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 2 Eggs
  • 6 Cups All-Purpose Bleached Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 4 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • Regular, Colored or Coarse Sugar

Directions

  • 1)

    Preheat oven to 375°F.

  • 2)

    In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and the butter until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and the eggs, mixing until creamy.

  • 3)

    In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Add the sifted mixture to the creamed mixture and mix well. dough will be stiff.

  • 4)

    Roll dough out on lightly floured surface to desired thickness, cut out into preferred shapes with cookie cutters and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Sprinkle the tops of the cookies with your preferred sugar of choice (granulated, colored or coarse).

  • 5)

    Bake for 8-10 minutes. Do not overbake.

    Let cool 1 minute on the cookie sheet, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
