Dad's Toffee Bars

  • Servings: 6-8 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Butter or Margarine, softened
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1 Egg Yolk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 8 oz Milk Chocolate, broken into small pieces
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Nuts (optional)

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350°F.

    Mix butter, brown sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla in a large bowl.

  • 3)

    Stir in flour and salt.

  • 4)

    Press dough into an ungreased 9×13 pan.

  • 5)

    Bake 25 minutes or until very light brown (crust will be soft).

  • 6)

    Immediately remove from oven and place milk chocolate pieces over the top to melt.

  • 7)

    Let stand about 5 minutes or until chocolate is soft, then spread melted chocolate evenly. Sprinkle with nuts, if desired.

  • 8)

    Let cool 30 minutes.

  • 9)

    Cut into bars while warm.
